…improve Defenses

You can temporarily boost Defenses via the Muster move Meet with Disaster, but it will usually cost you Fortunes to do so. Other options include:

• Build a Palisade or a Stone Wall. They grant advantage to Deploy rolls when you take advantage of them.
• Establish a Standing Watch. They add +1 to your Defenses when they're involved.
• Spend time drilling the villagers, turning them into a Well-Trained Militia. If you train the militia in 2 or more tactics, Defenses increases by 1.
• Furnish the village with Weapons of War and teach folks to use them. This increases Defenses by 1 and gives PCs access to better weaponry.
